Abstract
One of the functions for 3rd generation medium access control (MAC) is to maintain high data throughput and to provide collision resolution. We investigate analytically the random access transmission with both non-power ramping and power-ramping retransmission. A message flow method is employed to analyze the throughput of both schemes. We further include extra randomization on the transmission delay to exploit the capture effect
