Abstract
We investigated the effect of correlation among elements of a nonuniformly spaced array with optimum combining for joint fading reduction and interference suppression. In order to obtain independent fading, the spacing between antennas should be much greater than half wavelength. In our previous work, we proposed the use of a nonuniform array with a large spacing since undesired grating lobes occur in the array pattern of a uniform array. The correlation is investigated as a function of the spacing, angle of arrival, and angle spread. The performance of the nonuniformly spaced array is given in terms of outage probability and average bit error rate
