  • Abstract
    A new iterative receiver for joint detection and decoding of code division multiple access (CDMA) signals is proposed. The new scheme is based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. The new scheme is applicable to two situations (a) when the receiver is capable of decoding the signals from all users, and (b) when be receiver is only capable of decoding a subset of the users, either due to limited processing power or the unavailability of information about the other users. For operation over the AWGN channel we establish that the proposed receiver achieves a much better performance compared to other iterative receivers in highly loaded networks
