  • Abstract
The delay/throughput performance of a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) scheme for high speed local area networking applications is presented. The scheme employs CDMA embedded in a channel sensing protocol with collision (overload) detection. Simulation results are obtained as a function of offered load with normalised end-to-end transmission delay a and channel load cut-off value K as parameters. These results are compared with the delay/throughput performance of 1P-CSMA/CD (Ethernet) under the same operating conditions and show that a real capacity gain is achieved with the spread-spectrum protocol
