Abstract
An experiment was carried out to quantify the composite triple beat (CTB) at carrier positions produced by an optical link with its electrical-to-optical converter being intensity modulated with five Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) carriers that were equally and unequally spaced. The equally spaced carriers led to higher levels of CTB at their carrier positions than the unequally spaced carriers, which was a frequency plan based on the Golomb Ruler that was modified to incorporate reduction in bandwidth consumption. The lower levels of CTB at the carrier positions in the Golomb Ruler based frequency plan resulted in lower CTB-to-carrier ratios as well as positive CTB reduction factor with the equally spaced carriers as the original frequency plan
