Enabling active engagement in e-tutelage using interactive multimedia system

Computer and multimedia technology plays an increasingly important role in education. However, current educational multimedia systems suffer from a major drawback that they do not support active engagement from users. In this paper we present a system that overcomes the hurdle. Our system offers rich user interactivity; it naturally supports and invites user involvement in a multimedia presentation. In the paper we first categorize the different levels of user interactivity that we deem vital for an interactive multimedia system, and then we describe a system design that enables active engagement.
