Abstract
The principles of operation of a doubly-fed synchronous reluctance machine having an axially laminated rotor structure, a three-phase power winding connected to an inverter source, and a single-phase control winding with a DC excitation is set forth. This machine has controllability similar to that of a separately-excited DC machine, ensuring ease of high performance variable speed control. This paper proposes a novel high performance control of the machine. The concept of field orientation control and the current regulation control structure for this machine, using the concept of input-output linearization for operation in the constant torque, low speed region, is set forth and verified with computer simulation results
