Abstract
In this paper, a program for designing a fragmented wire antenna using a binary genetic algorithm to optimize the placement of wires used on a grid is presented. The optimization can be for gain in either a specific direction or an omni-directional pattern in a plane as well as for matched impedance. The program uses a Method of Moments FORTRAN code to evaluate each antenna. To illustrate the capabilities of the program, two design examples are shown.
