Abstract
A technique for the cancellation of periodic interference in biomedical measurement systems is introduced. Periodic interferences, superimposed on the signals which are detected and digitized, usually are constant for many periods and can be represented by a discrete Fourier series (DES). The coefficients of the DFS can be calculated by applying a least-mean-squares algorithm and used to synthesize a signal allowing cancellation of the interference. A practical realization using the method is presented, and its major advantages are discussed.<>
