Abstract
In this paper, a novel three-phase 12/10 switched reluctance motor(SRM) is investigated. For the conventional 12/10 SRM, the motor has six phases. However, by means of shifting stator pole, the motor has some advantageous characteristic with three phases and short flux path. This is good for increasing the output torque and reduction in cost. Therefore, firstly, the basic structure and principle are introduced. Furthermore, the characteristic analysis such as inductance and torque are implemented through finite element method. In the meanwhile, in order to verify the performance, one prototype motor is designed in comparison with conventional 12/10 SRM. The results show that the proposed motor offers better performances.
