  • Abstract
The positive experiences made over more than 25 years with EHV composite insulators lead to the development of polymeric cable terminations. Polymeric terminations have the following advantages compared to porcelain terminations: low weight, less fragile, better flashover performance, power arc resistance, and higher abrasion resistance (sand storm). The author discusses composite, dry type and heat shrink terminations, and their material requirements, shed design and testing
