Abstract
In mobile telephony networks, the presence of a mobile station (MS) is detected through periodic location area updates (PLAU). A scheme was proposed in [1] to dynamically set the time interval for PLAU based on call activity and normal location area updates (NLAU). This paper is a discussion of the implementation and findings of a simulation of that scheme.
