Abstract
The development of analysis methods for modeling electromagnetic devices that exhibit photonic bandgap behavior is an ongoing challenge. We demonstrate a theoretical analysis based on the scattering-matrix technique, for computing the propagation characteristics of photonic crystal waveguides. The method is able to provide a complete physical description of the lightwave guidance mechanism, as well as accurate prediction of all electromagnetic quantities, with modest computation time and-high accuracy.
