Abstract
The principle of a high-definition ultrasound imaging based on a compound acquisition of B-scans with a sectorial echograph is presented. Data processing is based on both deconvolution and reflection tomography. The images obtained by using this method, with respect to those of two-dimensional deconvolution, show the following: (1) an improvement in definition close to 9; (2) a gain in signal-to-noise ratio of about 4; and (3) a decrease in computations of 12. The effects of a limited acquisition window and of variable propagation speed are discussed.<>
