Abstract
The DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology is one of the emergent wireless technologies offering a valid mean for new multimedia and local services. A discrete channel model of the system is presented in this paper which attempts to capture the main causes of transmission impairments. For this purpose, an hybrid model based on the concept of “macrostates” and “hidden Markov chains” is used to model different system conditions. The HMM is described in detail and compared with available data. The results obtained show a good capability of the model to represent the statistical error properties of the system
