Abstract
Evaluation of a RFID tag antenna performance using RCS is shown to be very effective compared with that based on a detection distance. A tag antenna of which impedance is 35Q at 911MHz is designed and its performances are evaluated by RCS´. The procedures to obtain RCS´ by EM simulation are described in detail. How to interpret the tag RCS´ in relation with a detection distance is explained. The tag RCS´ as a function of plane wave incidence angles with different chip impedances are shown to give us complete information about the detection performance.
