Abstract
We studied the optical properties of the colloidal photonic crystals in optical circuits. The 3D colloidal photonic crystals are rapid fabricated with SiO2 spheres in diameter of 220, 260 and 320 nm on quartz substrates by vertical deposition. The photonic band gap of the three samples is located at 450, 529 and 680 nm in the transmission spectra, respectively. Multiple photonic band gaps are implemented as the PCs in series designed in the optical circuits. This demonstrated that the colloidal PCs may be used as very narrow optical filters
