  • Abstract
Cellular IP can be used in conjunction with mobile IP to enhance the performance of future wireless data networks. In this paper, we measured the performance of a cellular IP wireless data network in terms of the percentage of packets dropped per handoff. We ran simulations using the popular shadow fading channel model. We also did an experiment where we compared the impact on cellular IP performance due to shadow fading and the two-ray-ground channel model. This paper shows the effects that mobile speed, base station coverage overlap, and signal fluctuation have on cellular IP performance.
