  • Abstract
The problem of damping control and Hopf bifurcation control is discussed. To guarantee the level of system damping and dynamic load margin together, a multi-objective optimization model is proposed in this paper. Not only the minimum damping torque is identified, but also the effect on Hopf bifurcations. According to Hopf bifurcation index, quasi- Hopf bifurcations is proposed to approximate Hopf bifurcations and overcome the disadvantage of direct method in demands of good initial values. Evolutionary and Pareto strategy are used to solve this multi-objective optimization problem. Simulation results of New England test system indicate that the proposed method can increase system damping and delay Hopf bifurcations.
