  • Abstract
    The authors extends a result in the accounting of zeros and poles of a transfer function to include the case of nonminimal systems by first examining generic and global issues at the system level. Then an exact sequence establishes that the number of system zeros is equal to the number of system poles by relating the global invariant zero space, the global system pole space, and the generic system zero spaces. In this manner, the authors package global transmission zeros, decoupling zeros, kernel, and cokernel zeros into a single relationship, and provide a basis for the unification of zeros of a system by producing a complete accounting of system zeros and poles
