  • Abstract
Mobile software, helped by the astonishing success from Apple iPhone´s debut to Google Android´s follow-up, has become a new and hot growth area in the software computing industry. From a software engineering point of view, cloud computing with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a potential paradigm shift following the major paradigm shift from mainframe based computing to client-server computing in the early 1980s. The purpose of the paper is to perform a study on the state of the art of cloud computing technology and to understand the effectiveness of applying this technology in the field of mobile software engineering. To facilitate the research study, we built a music streaming application prototype system based on Android platform and Google App Engine to explore the impact and effect of cloud computing in mobile software environment.
