Abstract
A compact dual-band antenna using a multilayeredly rolled structure has been proposed for PGSM/DCS dual-band mobile phone applications. The multilayeredly rolled structure produces strong capacitive parasitic effect to provide the compact antenna with sufficient bandwidths in both target bands. The achieved small volume suggests that it is a good candidate as an internal antenna for low-profile mobile phones. Beside, feeding and shorting structures are improved for convenient signal feeding. Active OTA measurement results demonstrate that the proposed MRIFA possesses radiation performances comparable to a commercially available phone, showing that the proposed compact antenna is feasible for practical uses.
