Abstract
We investigate dispersion compensation using dispersion-compensating fiber (DCF) for ultrashort light pulse code division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems. The fiber link is composed of standard single-mode fiber (SMF) connected with two different types of DCFs. Fiber dispersion can be effectively decreased by properly adjusting the length ratio of DCF to SMF. Some different dispersion compensation criteria are proposed and their performances are compared to improve the transmission distance through the fiber link As a result, our demonstrated compensation method allows almost distortion-free signal transmission over the compensated fiber link in excess of 30 km, and improves system performance drastically
