Abstract
A scene cut detection technique based on phase correlation, with application to archive film material, is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, the peaks in the phase correlation surface of sub-sampled and histogram matched image frames are tracked to detect scene cuts. Furthermore it is proposed to track frame variances to avoid incorrect detection due to noise and visual degradation in plain-leveled image frames. Experimental results show that the proposed scene cut detection technique outperforms previous methods, and detects all scene cuts in the test video correctly.
