Abstract
Multi function phased array radars are used for ground based air surveillance, air traffic control and ship based air/sea surveillance. These radars perform search and track functions in a volume of 360 degrees in azimuth and needed angle interval in elevation. Since there can be more than one target in the search volume, the problem appears to be a multi target tracking problem. Beam scheduling of phased array radars in a multi target environment, track initiation, track maintenance and track drop mechanisms are presented. Also the problems that are determined with the simulation, and their solutions, are given.
