Abstract
The effects on BER performance of selecting antennas and templates are investigated in pulsed UWB wireless communication systems. The transmit and receive antennas are regarded as a system. The UWB system is characterized in the time and frequency domains, and the underlying relationships between BER, SNR, S-parameters and the template are revealed. The study has shown that when an antenna system has a high transmission efficiency and a template with high fidelity to the received pulse is chosen at the receiver, SNR increases so that BER decreases.
