Abstract
Formant analysis in the case of Vietnamese /bVk/ (V is one of the short vowels /∂̆, č, ă/) pronounced by female voice is a difficult task. The aim of the paper is to study, both in the speech signal and at the perception level, on the one hand, the effects of the impulse response at the beginning, at the end and during transitions of the signal and, on the other hand, the variations of the phases of the components. Results show that the effects of these parameters can be observed in spectrograms. The amplitudes of the spectral components are clearly sufficient for perceptive discrimination.
