Abstract
Automatic repeat request (ARQ) is an important error-control protocol in wireless communication. In this paper, by analyzing the transmission mechanism of ARQ protocols and the existent literatures, the queuing models for both GBN-ARQ protocol and SR-ARQ protocol are established sententiously based on Equivalent Service delay, in which the packet length, the propagation delay and procession delay of the date link and the receiver feedback delay are considered. Also, the expression formulations of the packet mean waiting delay and packet mean service delay of the both protocols are obtained, which also can be used to control the sliding windows, and both protocols´ delay performances versus the sliding windows length and the packet length are analyzed and compared by simulation. The models can be extended to analyze other types of ARQ protocols.
