Abstract
In this presentation, a theory of the excitation of oscillations in SHM has been presented. The theory covers different scenarios of the magnetron start-up including usage an auxiliary thermionic cathode or an external RF-signal. A detailed study of the influence of the secondary emission yield on the magnetron output characteristics has been performed. A new design of an auxiliary thermionic cathode is proposed to improve the temperature stability of the cathode and magnetron characteristics.
