Abstract
Currently, major Internet services are designed for consumer/personal usage and it tightly depends on service provider, which shows trends on monopolization. In this paper, we propose a new Internet service model, PHCMM, based on systematic and thorough summary of contents´ lifecycle. Equipped with PHCMM, we identify and analyze existing Internet service patterns. Subsequently, we design a novel distributed service pattern based on asset agent (AASP), which can decrease the clients´ dependency on specific ICP/ISP, and also break the increasing monopolization of provider in some areas. The new service pattern can also help to improve service efficiency and extendibility, and guarantee service with real “measurable, controllable and manageable”. We have applied this pattern into storage-assets and implemented an SAA (Storage-Asset Agent) system. Based on this system, we have instantiated the current Internet web mail service. Experiments show that SAA under Advanced AASP can significantly reduce the service workload on providers´ side and completely eliminate the end users´ dependency on specific service providers.
