  • Abstract
    We have added multi-slice acquisition capability to our thermoacoustic testbed. Thermoacoustic signal is generated because test specimens selectively absorb pulsed electromagnetic energy producing rapid thermal expansions that generate ultrasonic pulses. Filtered back-projection reconstruction yields images over an 8 cm field of view. Preliminary reconstructions of porcine kidneys track slice-to-slice progression of calyces, although renal pyramids are not well visualized.
