Abstract
To make full use of successful case of stamping process available, a novel dual-stage case adaptation method is proposed, by which the retrieved strip layout of the most similar old stamping part is adapted to that of the new one. In the first stage, the preliminary strip layout of the new stamping part is built by substituting features of the new part for those of the old one between the matched feature pairs, deleting unmatched features of the old part and adding unmatched features of the new part. In the second stage, constraints among cutting contours, including the sequence, precision and distance, are considered based on the preliminary strip layout, which guarantees the feasibility of stamping process. Finally a case study is conducted to show the effectiveness of this method.
