  • Abstract
Presently, CVG EDELCA is carrying out a replacement project of more than 1360 km of conventional ground wires, installing OPGW cables along with the primary and regional transmission systems operating at high voltage levels such as 765 kV, 400 kV, and 230 kV. Ideally, executing this kind of project requires the outage of the lines as a fundamental rule or precaution. However, is not possible to, in most cases, disrupt power; for that reason it forces us to execute the stringing process with the power lines in operation. CVG EDELCA is carrying out the replacement of 1360 km of conventional ground wires with OPGW which has allowed us to get to know different methodologies for OPGW cable installation on live lines. In this paper, the acquired experiences and details about stringing methods and safety measures are presented, as well as the used equipment used and other related aspects
