Abstract
This paper presents a new model based on the event-based reliability model (EBRM) and the Markov process to study the global reliability of telecommunication networks. This approach tries to use the independent failure events to describe the dependent link failures, and then uses the Markov process to construct the different network failure states based on the independent failure events. Finally a case study is provided to illustrate the model. The purpose of this paper is to build a simple reliability model for telecommunication networks avoiding the complex network reliability algorithms, with computational effort growing exponentially with the number of nodes and links in the network.
