  • Abstract
This paper analyses a well-known field bus system, the Profibus, as a gracefully degrading system. A two-phase analysis is performed, which takes into account permanent and temporary faults separately, and the consequences of a particular type of faults, called malicious, are also investigated. Finally a study of Profibus fault tolerance, based on a Petri net model, is presented
