Abstract
Summary form only given. We report an experimental and numerical work on second-harmonic generation (SHG) in the femtosecond regime in quasi-phase matching (QPM) silica fibers. We show that intrinsic third order nonlinearities should be taken into account in order to optimize the SHG. The sample used in the experiments was a periodically poled D-shaped silica fiber.
