  • Abstract
ADS40 from Leica Geosystems is a new-type airborne digital camera. Nowadays, it has aggregated worldwide focus in application fields of aerial photogrammetry and remote sensing with its distinct works in interpreting and mapping of comprehensive ground surface conditions. So far, although a systematic technical routine for reconstruction of large-scale 3D building models with solutions of photogrammetry has gradually formed, it is still the frame-based center-projective image which is the leading data source. The application of ADS40 images in constructing large-scale 3D building models has been discussed in this paper with a recent case study. The constructed 3D building models have achieved the expected geometric accuracy. Compared with the traditional frame-based image data, the ADS40 image strips effectively avoid the model-adjoining work with the other flight lines and it keeping the consistency of accuracy very well. The detail workflow is also described in this paper, as well as several key practical problems.
