Abstract
This report surveys the research in transmitting power control (TPC) in CDMA cellular systems with an emphasis on the controller design aspect. First of all, the problem is put in the standard framework of the control process. Quantities in TPC are treated as control system components. Most of the available control strategies are then reviewed, sometimes with a system theoretical justification or a stability proof, in the control system set-up. New research directions are pointed out
