Abstract
Acoustic Emission (AE) technique has been used for the diagnosis of power transformers since 1980. Ever since, it has been continuously improved of both the instrumentation and the tests procedures, especially in the last five years in which a research and development project with the Electrical Power Research Institute was started. This paper presents some of the current practices as well as recent case studies obtained when applying this technique in power transformers
