Abstract
The transmission network represents undoubtedly the infrastructure that enables the power market. The deregulated environment operating conditions are leading to new challenges for the power system (congestions). Taking into consideration these facts, new tools and methodologies are necessary to be developed, according to the actual conditions. For the beginning, within the paper, the congestion management problem is tackled. Considering a real power system case study, probabilistic congestion analysis is performed using a software tool developed by the authors (in Matlab environment). Based on the results and discussions the transmission expansion planning approach is performed. This paper aims to elaborate an original mathematical model used for transmission expansion planning in case of deregulated environment. The Romanian Power System is used as a case study.
