Abstract
Due to lack of improvement and maintenance for many years, the material testing laboratory at University of Detroit Mercy had failed to keep up with the ever changing standards of industry. Equipment was old and unreliable and the curriculum was unexciting to the students. Improvement of this laboratory has been going on for a few years. This paper describes modernization of the curriculum and laboratory facilities and the impact of this improvement on student learning.
