Abstract
Machine vision nowadays is among the most important `senses´ in industrial automation and robotics. However, attaching vision systems to moving machine or to mobile robots imposes a number of constraints on the implementation. Size, weight and power consumption are among the most important aspects. In this paper we present a compact embedded vision system for mobile robots and lay out the underlying design considerations.
