Abstract
In this paper the feasibility of applying a Smart remedial action scheme (RAS) based on the coordinated control of on load tap changers is investigated. Different from most of the existing RASs, the proposed method uses the measured voltage and current phasors to enhance the system security by balancing the power flow in the lines feeding a load. The configuration of implementing the method with IEC 61850 standard is provided. The simulations on a small test system demonstrate the validity of the scheme.
