Novel fractal domain features for image classification

We present novel features extracted directly from the fractal-compressed form of images and show their usefulness as features for classification. Simple face and gender classification systems are built using these features with standard classifiers, which both display promising results. It is hoped the schemes presented can be extended in future work to incorporate full face recognition and face detection.
