Abstract
We saw that wireless was inevitable and made an early commitment to wireless technology for industrial monitoring and, ultimately, control. Our company investigated options and even built some early prototypes. As we were approaching the production phase, we got more involved with ISA100 and the development of their first-to-be-released ISA100.11a, targeting process monitoring and “soft” control. This paper highlights the path that we have taken on this path and our detailed analysis of the comparison of our previously developed product with our new releases incorporating the new ISA standard.
