Abstract
The goal of the TIH (Travel Information Highway) is to promote the widespread distribution of live travel information by providing a cost-effective and efficient solution to exchanging information based on the use of commonly accepted practices and techniques. The toolkit approach to information exchange is seen as a way to encourage the uptake of information dissemination by minimising the resources required by potential information receivers to obtain data from multiple sources. The paper presents the TIH Toolkit approach to publishing and receiving travel information, identifying examples of how the toolkit has been applied to provide real-time information services and the benefits that have been realised from this approach.
