  • Abstract
Hyperthermia is a therapeutic procedure where the temperature for cancer is raised. One of the warming methods in hyperthermia is implanted hyperthermia where it has been reported that the temperature applied to the cancer tissue is controllable. The method makes it possible to warm cancerous tissue locally. In this procedure, a tiny heating element is implanted inside body and the implant is heated up by external energy, and then cancer is treated by that heat. In this study, a resonant circuit is used as an implant. In this system, the implant is heated under high frequency magnetic field and the whole cancer tissues are heated by heat conduction from the implant. Hyperthermia was examined using the low radiofrequency (RF) magnetic field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This study showed that MRI can serve as a diagnostic equipment for hyperthermia. It offers the advantage of checking therapeutic effect using MRI images while under medical treatment.
