  • Abstract
We investigated experimentally the performance difference between using Multi-Channel Chirped Fiber Bragg Grating (MC-CFBG) as dispersion compensators in the pre-compensation and post-compensation configuration for a long-span optical transmission system. The transmission medium consists exclusively of a single type of fiber, the standard single mode fiber (SSMF), G.652. The experiment was conducted using Non-Return to Zero (NRZ) modulation format at 10Gbps. The results indicated that the MC-CFBG is promising as an alternative to the conventional Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF), especially in the pre-compensation configuration.
