Abstract
Free Space Optics (FSO) communications have not been well received due to its high cost, atmospheric limitation and installation difficulty. The transmitter part is seen as the source of all negativities and limitations of FSO system. Stringent alignment stability and installation difficulty related to the small beam size and the angular displacement in micro radian sensitivity of the light source projected towards the receiver makes FSO very unattractive. There are limited literatures discussing the problems of FSO transmission. This paper attempts to understand and analyse the problems related to FSO transmission and proposes improvements.
