Abstract
Traditional speech enhancement algorithms are mainly to remove the noise which is stable or changes slowly and do not adapt to deal with the background noise which changes very quickly. In order to solve this problem, a new single-channel telephone speech enhancement method is presented for non-stationary noisy environment in this paper. Based on two new speech parameters--Voice Peak Bandwidth (VPB) and Voice Peak Energy Ratio (VPER) in frequency domain, the proposed algorithm can extract and de-noise the speech frames. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the comfort and clarity of the voice, and work especially well in the non-stationary noisy environment.
